I think we’re stuck in an infinity loop, Captain!

Alyson Kuhn just keeps on sending amazing thank-you note love. If this keeps going, she may claim the majority of the posters! So if you were debating whether to send a thank you note or not, don’t dilly-dally for too long or else Alyson might claim the one meant for you!

Unexpected findings.

One of the more intriguing thank-yous that has arrived at the studio is this one from Terry Eagan.

Terry prefaces his thank-you with a disclaimer before leading us on a strange journey made up of child like drawings, ethereal water imagery, recollected memories of mermaids and a short history lesson on a local Florida water attraction.

We especially like the closing paragraph with accompanying diagram of what is and what is not a mermaid. Thanks Terry, for this strange little missive. Expect a poster soon.

A closer look.

A good thank-you is all about the details. In the case of Sarah Meiklejohn’s thank-you, it’s the great map of Paris she glued to the inside of the envelope.

Thank you Sarah, for that lovely detail. We hope you enjoy your closer look at the great details of our SF Sound poster.

Karen Kuts Kool Kards

Eric’s former student, Karen Jaimes, has upped the thank-you note ante by creating a krazy-kool hand-cut pattern for her card. The icing on the cake is how she re-used the pieces she cut out to make the card for the rest of the package. A very sustainable thank-you! Nice work, Karen! Look for your poster soon!

A thank-you hat trick from Tom Ingalls

Old colleague, friend and all-around superb guy, Tom Ingalls, sent us three sublime thank-yous we’re still gushing over, all the way down to his stylish handwriting. Just the stamps alone have us in graphic design heaven. Thanks, Tom! 3 posters on their way soon!

No, really, thank you.

We don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but we think Laura Sliva might like a poster…

Thanks for the great hand-made note Laura! We hope you really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really like your poster.

New York sparkle

A shower of glitter announced the opening of this fancy thank-you from Elaina Crary. After dusting off our table, we all agreed that the application of glitter is greatly underutilized within the graphic design field.

Elaina, even though we were unable to put glitter to some use in the SF Sound poster, we hope you will still enjoy it when it arrives.

gratias tibi ago (no 13)

This fine specimen kicked off our return to the office Monday morning. Presented here is an illustration of the Eastern Pickerell (Esox reiculatus), appropriated from the 1956 edition of Webster’s Encyclopedia by Paul Merrill.

Paul, we thank for your defacement of such a hallowed tome. Expect a poster shortly.

Ferko’s thank-you gold

Volume pal of Appleton Coated / Utopia paper fame, Ferko Goldinger, doubled up his thank-you note with the cool new Utopia Two promo, “The Ultimate U2 Throwdown,” which doubles as a guide to the best food in the world via your favorite designers (including Volume partner, Eric Heiman’s shout-out to San Francisco’s Little Star Pizza’s deep dish pie). Thanks, Ferko!

When in doubt…cut up one of our posters?

Not to be outdone on the physical thank-you note side either, Christopher Simmons has mailed us another submission that makes beautiful mincemeat out of an old Volume-designed AIGA SF “This Is The Process / This Is The Reward” poster. We’re not sure whether to be flattered or scared. Maybe he’s mad that we got to the whole “This is…” trend first?
