Whereas most book jackets are designed using strictly 2D methodologies, the Safe Food jacket goes further by treating the book as an object to be packaged—like food itself. The design distinguishes itself by utilizing the shrink-wrap used for shipping as a design element. The irony is fully realized after reading Safe Food, an exposé of how industrialization and science is adversely tampering with our food supply far before it is packaged, let alone in our supermarket aisles.
