Eric was one of three designers asked by Jessica Helfand to represent the United States in the International Designers Exhibition part of the "Korea Our Stories" expo, held in August in honor of the 70th anniversary of Korean Independence Day. Each designer was asked to create two works: one that reflects their ideal graphic representation of their own national government identity and two, their graphic interpretation of Korea. As is often our way with these projects, we wanted to create something provocative and we succeeded so well, the curators had to switch the orientation of our diptych. An America gun pointing at the South Korean peninsula was a bit too inflammatory, despite our desire to acknowledge how ridiculous and scary the United States gun culture must look to foreigners. We understand, though, and figure that's a sign of job well done. Nonetheless, we were honored to have been a part.
